As you probably noticed, Christmas fell on a Sunday this year, potentially robbing some people of a holiday day off.
But here at Slow Boring we are believers in the power of government to enhance well-being by solving the time-off coordination problem. Individuals are capable of making tradeoffs between labor income and leisure, but leisure time is more valuable when other people also have leisure time so it’s important for the government to step in with some structured holidays. That includes a bonus day off in case Christmas does something like occur on a weekend. We’ll be back tomorrow!
