Live Matt Yglesias / Nate Silver video dialogue on Wednesday
October 16, at 11 Eastern exclusively on the Substack app
I wanted to let everyone know about something cool coming up: As part of a larger series of Election Dialogues hosted on Substack, I’m going to be doing an event with Nate Silver on Wednesday, October 16 at 11am Eastern, live on video in the Substack app.
Nate needs no introduction. His work in election forecasting and predictive modeling has, I think, genuinely changed the election coverage landscape so profoundly that the sheer scope of his influence is now underrated. Like everyone, I’m hoping that he’ll tell us definitively who’s going win the election.
Beyond that, I’m looking forward to talking about the importance of probabilistic thinking and cost-benefit analysis, about our shared frustration with what we see as a diminishing epistemic quality of center-left work, and about how to react constructively to political anxiety.
Sound interesting? I think it will be! The key thing is that to be part of the conversation, you’ll need to make sure that you’ve got the Substack app downloaded on your phone and that you’re logged in. If you subscribe to Slow Boring (or Silver Bulletin), you’ll get the notification when we go live. And please let me know what you’d like to hear us talk about in the comments below.
So, get the Substack app, get logged in, and get ready for a great event Wednesday at 11am Eastern.
