What we learned from the Slow Boring reader survey
You guys are very well-educated, and your politics are interesting
A while back we ran a survey of Slow Boring readership and while we were, of course, not able to obtain a true random sample of the population, we did get a large enough number of responses — over 5,000 — that I think it is mechanically fairly representative of our readership.
We mostly did this to indulge our own curiosity and try to see what we could learn about serving our members better, but we also thought readers would be interested in learning a bit more about yourselves. Precisely because of sample issues, I wouldn’t take any of this to be the absolute Gospel truth or take small numerical differences too seriously. But I can’t come up with any reason to believe there would be systematic sample bias on these main questions and I feel like we can take them pretty seriously as rough estimates.
