The note that went out with this morning’s email didn’t appear for anyone reading exclusively in the app, so we wanted to offer some additional clarification on our decision to turn comments off on today’s post.
While it seems a bit dramatic to describe it, as one commenter did, as unprecedented, we get that it was unexpected and perhaps disappointing to some. But as other commenters mentioned, we don’t have anyone on staff right now dedicated to moderating comments (we’re in the process hiring and have some candidates we’re really excited about), and we felt that the risk of things getting out of control under these circumstances was too great. Limiting the conversation to a single discussion thread is more manageable.
